instead of ashes, beauty.

It's a fine day as I write this here in Krakow. The sky is blue and the temperature just right, spring in its fullest. I am really enjoying being back in Poland, this time so far has proved wonderful for collecting thoughts and quality fellowship not only with friends but with the most high. A place where I can do some relaxing but also get around to a lot of things I'd been meaning to do, which the cloud of intensity this last year held me back from just a slight. I've been able to do a lot of the following..

writing.
reading.
e-mailing.
guitaring.

and sometimes just.. nothing.

For those of you
that have been following my facebook and 'tweets' will see that I've had a lot of time for music here, and had the privelege of playing at compass coffee house this last Friday. I enjoyed quality time practising and preparing for that last week and of course performing.

One of the main things I feel I've realised being out here has been how much I adore music. This past year has been a journey of reconciliation in many areas personally. Music being one of those, having held music as my identity for so long in a negative respect, upon conviction of this just over a year ago I felt the prompting to lay it down for a season as my heart be set right with it. Now I feel that season is coming to a close at His calling in the quiet times and through playing and hearing testimonies of how the Lord uses it to bless. Drawing near to His heart in writing, in playing and in performing thus glorifying God, exposing His presence and welcoming all into more intimacy with Him.

So you could say, I have found more vision in this area and generally. I feel quite passionate about this, and will be putting a lot more emphasis on music from now on. I am excited to see how things will work out. Working on a vision.

Also while I've been here I have been inspired to be as active as I can be in giving everything to the Lord. The big things and the small things, for instance, fair trade, clothes that support and promote organisations in their fight for justice. This too is exciting, small things that are part of the bigger picture.

On that note, I checked out an organisation named #LOVE146 recently and was really impressed and convicted, by all they're doing and all that is happening in the world, one thing that I'll be having a go at over the next couple of months is 'treading on trafficking'. Raising money and raising awareness with regular exercise, and the bonus of getting fit too. I'll be sending out e-mails etc. over the next few days and will have more info on how you can contribute soon.

I have a few more days here in Poland and head back to Holmsted on Saturday (May 1st). Thanks for reading, this is more of life as I know it.

providence. polska. puzzle pieces.

It’s a nice evening here at Holmsted, seated in my room with cool cheeks after an enjoyable walk outside with good conversation. Not quite summer yet, though sunshine and a clear sky teases me outside. I’ve just gotten back from a brief visit to Bournemouth to enjoy Easter weekend with my family. Rail works over the weekend gave me some extra time to do some reading and writing, times which proved valuable. Day by day, learning more about myself and what makes me tick, dreaming of revolution, running out of fingers from counting testimonies. It’s quite the journey.
I’m excited about the future generally, have got some great things lined up over the next few months. This time next week I will be getting ready to fly out to Krakow in Poland to visit a Holmsted team pioneering ministry there. The team leader was the school leader for my DTS, and I went to Krakow on my first outreach, so in a way it’s going to be delightful but also bizarre going back to a place I’d been to only a year ago but it feels thrice the time. It’ll be wonderful to walk the square again, drink tea in my favourite book shop, and meet up with those I served with the last time, and to enjoy fellowship with and encourage the team. Excellent. God has so graciously provided everything I need. I will be in Poland for three weeks, then heading back to Holmsted to do various bits and bobs, helping out with the April discipleship training school.
The next few months in a nutshell, things that I will endeavour to unpack along the way.
This week will hold quite a few practical things to do around the house, and prayer and preparation for Poland. I leave next Tuesday (13th). Thanks for partnering with me in this journey.
